THE COLOUR OF LANDSCAPE

An Exhibition by Walter Dirks

A Canadian by birth, Walter Dirks is a long-term resident of Bristol. He is a gifted and experienced professional photographer who achieved a Fellowship at The Royal Photography Society early in his career.  The distinction is the highest that The Society offer and is given for original work and outstanding ability. Walter’s pictures are characterized by clarity, careful use of light and intuitive composition which all contributes to capturing the essence of his subject.

Walter’s works are showing at the Bristol Cream Gallery at Harveys Cellars, 12 Denmark Street, Bristol BS1 5DQ until 25th June (closed Mondays).

The Harveys Cellars monthly acoustic evenings have now worthily secured their monthly slot on the Bristol live music scene providing a guaranteed evening of high calibre artistic talent.

Massively popular with locals and travelling artists, we invite you to relax in our comfy surroundings and listen to some of the region's top musicians playing outstanding original music and the occasional cover.

LATIN DESCARGA

First Thursday of the month

The Latin Descarga is a monthly jam session open to all competent musicians, singers and salsa dancers too.

The unique vibe of the night attracts some of the best players from Bristol, Bath and London, and makes it a live and exciting night out where you can eat, drink and feel involved.

The four piece house band host the night and have played together in various well-known Latin ensembles, with Joe Longridge on Trumpet, Martin Jenkins on Piano, Lisa Cherian on Percussion, and Sol Ahmed on Double Bass.

Ian, Pilo and David bring you THE party night for the region's dancers in two rooms. The Latin zone with Cuban Salsa, LA Salsa, Rueda, Bachata, Cha Cha PLUS the African influence with Kizomba, Semba and Kuduro line-ups.

Representing one of the most extraordinary musical fusions in the history of humanity, salsa's multicultural historical influences have resulted in a most compelling and dynamic musical form. Salsa is up-beat, up-tempo and up-lifting.

This is now one of the biggest dance events in the region attracting dancers from Birmingham, Exeter, Oxford, Swindon, Cardiff, Plymouth and Gloucester taking place in the famous and historic Harveys Wine Cellars.

 

FIESTA LATINA WITH THE DJ FUEGO PILO CREW

Whether you want to enjoy some tapas whilst listening to the mesmorising rhythms that salsa brings, join in the classes, free dancing or simply watch the experts, there is something for everyone to enjoy on these Friday nights.

Sherry is a fortified wine made from white grapes that are grown near the town of Jerez in Spain and these cellars are seeped in sherry making history ...

Join us for a sherry tutoring evening where we will tell you more about the interesting art of sherry making, the history behind the cellars and where you can try the specially paired tapas to match each individual sherries that we offer.

Perfect as a corporate function if you want to do something a little different or join one of our smaller groups if you prefer.  Alternatively we offer "sherry flights" where we have already paired the sherries and tapas as a set menu that you can enjoy in our restaurant at your leisure.
